We had a wonderful "Train the Trainers" meeting on Friday. I am excited for all these new trainers. They are prepared and ready to welcome the new missionaries next week!
It is so beautiful here right now. I didn't realize how much I have missed "Autumn". I only wish it would stay for months! The leaves are such vibrant colors of red, orange, purple and yellow. I am in awe as I drive around that it is so beautiful! William had to remind me the other day to watch the road and not just look at the leaves. The pictures don't do justice. Lauren and I pass this particular tree each time I take her to dance. We had to pull over and get a picture.
Today was the Yorktown Stake Conference. I loved it. President Checketts is a remarkable leader. He asked that none of the speakers come with written talks but instead invited them to prepare to speak by the spirit. President Smith and I both had opportunity to speak. It is always challenging yet a blessing to speak to the various congregations throughout our mission. I love to see our missionaries in the congregation. They are full of light and goodness. I feel like a proud parent as I watch them serve and love those around them.
My beautiful girls! We gave them the option of attending Stake Conference with us or just going to our home ward in the afternoon. They both woke up early and got ready to go with us. They have made friends throughout the mission and love opportunities to see them. They also love every opportunity to see the missionaries.
Every couple of weeks we do a mission wide conference call or "miracle line". President Smith shares some of the miracles that are happening in the mission. This is him in the mission office talking on the miracle line.
Our dear Texas friends, The Goodes, came for a visit. William could not have been happier when they surprised him with his favorite cashew chicken from his favorite restaurant in TX. He said it was the best birthday gift ever. The story behind it is he had insisted I ask the owner of the Thai restaurant for the recipe before we left. She was happy to share it with me because she knew how much William loved it. Well, I misplaced it in our move so William kept asking me to call her. I finally did and we got the recipe again. We have made it a few times but he keeps reminding me it's not the same. He was in heaven last night eating the original!
Lauren dressed up as a "sister missionary" for the ward trunk or treat party. Sister Vassau and Sister Eastman already had the matching dresses and knew of another sister with the same one. They borrowed it for Lauren. She was so happy and even won the award for most original costume.
