Zone Conferences continue...

Thursday we held Zone Conference at the Lincoln Center Chapel for Chinatown and the Manhattan South Zones.  Normally it takes me about 40 minutes to drive to the city in the morning, however I  seemed to run into all sorts of obstacles this week and arrived 30 minutes late.  Immediately upon walking into the meeting I felt the calm sweet feeling of the Spirit.  It was such a blessing as I walked in just moments before my training was to begin.  Being with a group of missionaries in this setting is awesome.  They come so prepared to learn, the Spirit is always present, we have wonderful discussions and gain new insights.  I have been talking with them about the power of the Book of Mormon in conversion.  A testimony of the Savior rooted in the Book of Mormon leads to deeper conversion and a greater understanding of the Restoration of the Gospel.  I love the Book of Mormon.  I read it for the first time as a 14 year old girl after being challenged by my young women leader to read everyday for a year.  In the course of that year I came to know it was true.  There was not one powerful spiritual moment but rather several moments of peace and a warmth in my heart that it was indeed the word of God.  Joseph Smith did not write it but he translated it.  That testimony has become stronger as I have continued to study the Book of Mormon throughout my life.  It testifies of the Savior throughout the entire book!  It teaches the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, or in other words everything we need to know to gain Salvation and Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father and Savior.  It answers the questions of the soul, what is the purpose of life? what happens when we die? how can I be happier in my family? does God answer prayers? and so on...

"The greatest power of the Book of Mormon is its impact in bringing us closer to Jesus Christ. It is a strong witness of Him and His redeeming mission. Through it we come to understand the majesty and power of His Atonement.  It teaches His doctrine clearly.  And because of the magnificent chapters describing the visit of the risen Christ to the Nephites, we see and experience Him loving, blessing, and teaching those people and come to understand that He will do the same for us if we come to Him by living His gospel."

We are grateful to the Assistants and Office Elders who get everything set up for Zone Conference.  They arise about an hour earlier than the normal missionary schedule to make sure everything is ready to go!
