Six new missionaries joined us Monday afternoon, 4 Sisters, and 2 Elders. They are awesome! It is always fun to watch them walk through the doors of the airport. They are filled with excitement and some trepidation of the unknown. We love them instantly. That evening is always special as we gather in the mission home for a testimony meeting. The living room of the mission home has become very sacred to me. Thousands of missionaries have sat in that room and testified of what they know to be true. The spirit comes in abundance every time. I am trying to never take for granted the privilege of being with these missionaries and watching them grow, stretch and learn.
"Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation."
Tuesday we attended the Manhattan Temple with this group of 14 missionaries who returned home today. This group of Elders are the first group we welcomed into the mission. We also entered the MTC the same day as 4 of them. I have loved watching them grow these past 2 years. Each one of them is remarkable and has had a successful mission.
You can know you have been a successful missionary when you:
~Feel the Spirit testify to people through you
~Love people and desire their salvation
~Obey with exactness
~Live so that you can receive and know how to follow the Spirit,
who will show you where to go, what to do, and what to say.
~Warn people of the consequences of sin. Invite them to make and keep commitments.
~Help build up the church wherever you are assigned to work.
~Develop Christlike Attributes
~Teach and serve other missionaries
~Go about doing good and serving people at every opportunity, whether or not they accept your message.
