A day never to be forgotten...

I love the NYNYN missionaries!  I was so filled with love for them today.  They are exceptional!  Remarkable!  The best of the best of their generation.

Today we were blessed to be taught by President Russell M. Nelson, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Wendy.  Also Elder Gerrit W. Gong, of the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife, Susan, Bishop W. Christopher Waddell and his wife, Carol, and Area Seventy Elder David L. Buckner and his wife Jennifer.  I heard the words written by Oliver Cowdery in my mind during our meeting...

"These were days never to be forgotten~to sit under the sound of a voice dictated by the inspiration of heaven, awakened the utmost gratitude of this bosom!"

We were so sad to miss some of our Senior Sisters in this picture.  Earlier in the day a womens meeting was held on the East side.  They got stuck in the mid-day Manhattan traffic.

As we walked into the gym for a mission picture, the missionaries all sang We Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet.  I felt the warmth of the Spirit which enveloped the room.  The missionaries were angelic.  If you look you can see the light in their countenances.

Today was President Nelsons 93rd birthday.  He began his address with "I'm so glad I get to be with all of you in the NYNYN mission.  It's like its my birthday.  Oh wait, it is!"

Some of the highlights of President Nelsons words...

When he was born in 1924 there were 600,000 members of the Church.  Today in 2017 there are nearly 16 million.

He reminded us of the miraculous translation of the Book of Mormon which the Prophet Joseph Smith translated between April 7, 1829- June 30, 1829, with roughly 65 days working on the actual translation.  This means he translated 8-9 pages per day.  Today our translators who work on the Book of Mormon translation into other languages translate about 1 page per day.  (that is with all of our modern tools)

"Want to be happy? Keep the commandments!  Want to be miserable?  Don't!"

He invited us to feast upon the words of Christ.

"The Lord loves His missionaries"

"Jesus is the Christ, this is His Church, we are His people led by a Prophet of God, President Thomas S. Monson, whom I love and sustain."

"I express my love and gratitude to each of you and your families at home."

Happy 93rd Birthday President Nelson.  You are truly an inspiration to us all!
