Countless blessings in NY!

"Well done thou good and faithful servant".  I will miss learning from this wonderful Apostle, Elder Robert D. Hales. 1932-2017.  He was a remarkable leader and example of one who followed the Savior and dedicated his life to Christlike service & charity.

I loved General Conference...all the talks, but my favorite talk this time was from President Russell M. Nelson about the miracle and power of the Book of Mormon.  I love the Book of Mormon and feel strength in my life when I read and study it.

In my reading this past week I read the Book of Enos.  Normally I read this chapter thinking
about how Enos prayed all day and night to be forgiven of his sins, and that he remembered
the words his father, Jacob had taught him.  This time however, the second half of the chapter
really stood out to me.  Enos is desiring that a record be preserved so in some future day
it would be a means of bringing the Lamanites (his brethren) to the Savior. (verse 13)

He expresses this desire "continually" for the Lord "had said unto me
'Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the
name of Christ, ye shall receive it." (verse 15)

Enos exercises his faith by praying and pleading with the Lord that the record will be preserved.
This got me thinking about what I truly desire?  What do I plead with the Lord about?
Do I exercise my faith and trust that he hears me and will answer?

Enos goes on to say in verse 17
"And I, Enos, knew it would be according to the covenant
which he had made; wherefore my soul did rest."

Have you had an experience when the Lord has spoken peace to your soul concerning a desire of your heart?  I have been reminded of times when I knew the Lord heard my prayer and that he was aware of my desire and yearning.  I know as I trust in his timing the sweet peace comes and
my soul is "at rest" just as Enos experienced.

I invite you to ponder on when you have felt the sweet peaceful assurance from the Spirit.  Often it is so brief, a quick warmth that last a few seconds, but it is real and so very sweet.  Remember those experiences, trust in the Lord, he is ever mindful of us and desires to bless us.  He will draw as near to us as we allow him to.

On Saturday morning we had the Westchester Zone over for breakfast prior to conference.  Unfortunately, we forgot to get the camera out when everyone was there so these pictures are missing a few missionaries.

President Smith enjoying a few minutes of quiet study early Sunday morning...
I don't think he ever knew I took this picture :)
