On Monday, February 19, 2018 we welcomed a new group of missionaries. They came from the Provo MTC and Mexico City CCM. Flights arrived on time and all the baggage made it! We headed to the Scarsdale chapel for some brief training followed by dinner and a testimony meeting at the mission home. The Sisters spent the night at the mission home and the Elders went to a hotel. We always enjoy greeting these missionaries and getting to know them upon their arrival. After an early morning and a full day of travel they are usually tired and hungry yet filled with anticipation and excitement. They always look forward to meeting their companions the next day.
Elder Ihalmo arrived 2 weeks ago. He served for a brief time in his home country of Finland while awaiting his Visa.
We are so happy to have him with us as well. Dave wore his "Finnish" tie in honor of his arrival.
The trainers are just as excited and nervous about meeting their new companions as the new missionaries are. It is fun to see them greet each other and prepare to serve together.
"A missionary’s first companion has a profound, lasting influence on the development of the
missionary’s attitudes, habits, and ability to fulfill his or her purpose "
