Zone Conferences continue...

This round of zone conferences have been held at the Scarsdale Chapel followed by the mission home for lunch and a testimony meeting.  These have been sacred moments, as we have gathered in the living room where thousands of missionaries have born testimony of what they know to be true.  Today as I looked at each individual missionary I was overcome with love for them.  One of the most amazing blessings of our calling is to see these missionaries the way the Savior sees them.  It is hard to explain but as I look at them I see their potential, their talents, their desires.  They are all remarkable and growing in different ways.  Each missionary is striving and wants to follow the Savior.  When we complete our mission the end of this month we will have had over 500 missionaries.  I can honestly say I have known and loved every single one of them.  I hope they have felt it.  With some I have had more personal experiences but each individual missionary has mattered to me and touched my heart.

During the testimony meetings I have shared 3 scriptures that are meaningful to me.

"I say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away." Alma 23:6
(my goal and desire for my children and all my missionaries)

"...by small and simple things are great things brought to pass..."
Alma 37:6 (this is how we stay on the covenant path)

"And moreover I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God.  For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it." Mosiah 2:41
(the secret to a happy life)

President Smith snapped this photo when he saw the Elders walking from the train station as he was driving down to pick up missionaries!  Rather than wait for a ride they walked to the Scarsdale Chapel.
What a valiant group of powerful missionaries.

I found this selfie on my phone :)

A friend of mine, who is preparing for baptism, wrote this beautiful poem
about the missionaries and how they have changed her life.

The Knock

Without knowing one night
they just knock on my door.
I don't quite understand
why I open my door.

That knock struck deep into my heart.

Was it their eyes?
Was it their peace?
Was it their love?
Was it their faith?

That one knock
Changed my life.
I can still feel the warmth
of that knock,
cause I opened my door.

On Monday evening we picked up Sister Walker at the Westchester Airport.
She is the last sister we will be privileged to welcome to the mission.

Sister Walker will be serving in Spanish Harlem with Sister Leon and Sister Anderson
